Definition Of A Coup

  1. Take over the capitol building, surround it with troops and keep away all civilians so it appears that there is no opposition to the new government.
  2. Take over the media or have them do your bidding with one message to make it seem like “consensus”.
  3. Censor or imprison the former leader so he/she cannot talk to supporters.
  4. Destroy the opposition party(ies) to make sure there is no dissent.
  5. Censor the opposition and/or remove their means of communication.

What does this remind you of? You can add at the top “have a phony or fixed election.”
