“The party of FDR and JFK has become the party of LOL and WTF. If people are laughing at you there is probably a good reason”. I probably agree with 10% of Maher’s positions, and for the better part of the past five years he was blinded by his hatred for Trump. But he is often honest. He has long called out Muslim culture for its highly illiberal tendencies, and its enablers on the left. Have you ever noticed, when a Republican president is charged with nominating a new Supreme Court justice the conversation usually revolves around resume, record and judicial gravitas? But when a Marxist, er Democrat is in the same position the discussion is solely on race and a person’s chromosomes? Such is the pathetic state of our government that the next justice is likely to be another lip-strumming moron like Sonya Sotomayor, picked only for her skin color and sex. Covid, Masks and The Death of Science
The CDC has finally come out and admitted what anyone with two brain cells knew, cloth masks and most disposable masks commonly worn do virtually nothing to stop the spread of the Wuhan Flu. However, the CDC’s admission is not necessarily reason to celebrate as it is likely to recommend the use of properly fitted N95 masks instead while completely ignoring the harm continuous masking causes. Ask any doctor you know and they will tell you what happens after wearing one for even an hour or two: headaches, light headedness, nausea, never mind the detrimental psychological impact and rebreathing dirty, pathogen-filled air. American leftists are now championing masking forever. The left’s mask obsession and its insistence that it was “following science” when it wasn’t is just one example of the death of science.
Separately, a well-known British scientist has decried the whitewash of the Wuhan lab theory, citing overwhelming evidence that was suppressed over politics.

Cato Institute publishes a freedom index for all 50 states based on various personal, economic and governmental factors. Not surprising, every top ten state is either red or purple, and every bottom 15 state except one is blue, Democrat, leftist. This is why there is currently mass migration.

Regulatory Capture and Big Government Corruption
There are those, largely on the left, who believe government is benevolent and must be brought to bear to reign in the excesses of the free market. The trouble, just like absolute power big government corrupts everything it touches. Look no further than the cozy relationship between Wall Street mega-firms and DC. The financial services industry is probably the most highly regulated in the country. Regulatory capture has led to a symbiotic relationship where a handful of very large firms routinely commit fraud or violate laws making hundreds of millions in profit while unsuspecting clients get left holding the bag. If caught the perps usually negotiate a fine while the individuals involved skate from any criminal charges. Once in a while the regulators throw the book at some unpreferred firm, usually a smaller company or a foreign institution, but Goldman Sacks will never get punished. There is a two-way flow of people between Wall Street and DC. In the end the mega-firms and the corrupt DC Feds both get rich. Here is one such example with Citigroup and the Feds, where a courageous judge said “no” to the settlement negotiated by the parties, only to be overturned on appeal:

The US government is probably the most corrupt institution in the country. Trump tried to change this and we see what it brought. Any big business that DC gets its tentacles into becomes corrupted. We are seeing this now sadly in healthcare, where government controls the purse strings to such an extent that hospitals are mindlessly following idiotic and dangerous government Covid protocols that are literally killing their clients….patients. This will stop when enough people make it stop. All of this is the very definition of crony capitalism, something leftists and Democrats purport to hate….they don’t.
