It is shocking that the home of Silicon Valley and much of the nation’s GDP is tops in poverty rate, but this is what happens in most leftist Utopias: you have a few haves and many have-nots.
Three key policy decisions made years ago in California has caused this. First, California has a huge entrenched government bureaucracy that has created incentives to put and keep people on assistance: that is what big-government does. Next, California has millions of undeveloped acres of land but has become beholden to rich, corrupt environmental groups and thus has some of the most restrictive land-use regulations in America. The result is very expensive real estate. Finally, these same corrupt environmentalists have successfully enacted draconian “clean” energy regulations, making the cost of energy higher in California than any place else in the country. For people on the lower end of the income spectrum housing and energy make up their biggest expenses and in California those are unaffordable. Economics 101, and California is failing. Failed leftist policies always hurt the poor the most, and California is no exception.
I don’t know if President Trump called Haiti and some African nations “shitholes” in an immigration meeting with some senators. I don’t care. If he did, so what? What he said is true. Who doesn’t think Haiti is a shithole? But I no longer believe anything I hear negative about the President unless I hear it with my own ears because probably 75% of the negative reporting about him has been misleading, false, or outright lies.
The shithole comment was apparently leaked by Dick Durbin, a far-left socialist from Illinois who is a know liar. The back story is that Durbin and his ally Lindsey Graham tried to blindside Trump with a garbage immigration bill that was basically DACA and Trump was prepared to fight back. The meeting got ugly and now the leftist losers are trying to make Trump look bad.
I support Trump most of the time because we have been fighting a culture was with far-left socialists for nearly 50 years and our side has always conceded ground. Trump is a fighter, this is war and we cannot afford to spare him in the fight.
A few weeks ago I made the point that the left and their useful idiots in the “Never Trump” GOP were desperately trying anything to get rid of Trump. Now trying crazy. Conrad Black makes the case better than I could in the anti-Trump supposedly right-leaning National Review. Black is one of the few pro-Trump voices left there.
Remember Google’s early corporate motto: “Don’t be evil”? Well, it has become, or always was evil. Google is a leftist cult where opposing views are silenced and non-believers drummed out of the company. If you do not support feminism, LGBT extremism, global warming and “white privilege” there is no place for you in the company. Why does this matter? It matters because Google and other leftist Silicon Valley companies are rapidly taking over the flow of information in the world. They may soon find themselves tightly regulated.
The far-left and their witless dupes in the GOP “Never-Trump” movement (Bill Kristol) have tried everything under the sun to get Trump: Russia, conspiracy, fraud, racism, ect, ect and nothing has worked. Now they are trying to convince the country that Trump is nuts based on the content of his tweets.
Here is my take: the tweets are the public entertainer Trump, not meant to be taken literally, or even seriously at times. What Trump has done (tax reform, slashing regulation, court appointments) and said in moments of statesmanship (his excellent speeches at the UN and in the Middle East) are matters of substance and show that he is serious about the job at hand. Meaningless tweets are him blowing off steam and are at worst, unstatesmanlike. Who cares? That the left and never-Trumpers (Bill Kristol) take his tweet about a “bigger button” as some sign that he is about to launch a preemptive strike against North Korea shows how clueless and stupid they are. Oh, and as an aside, Bill Kristol of the Weekly Standard (so-called conservative) is an arrogant, smarmy, treasonist, elitist, intellectually dishonest gas-bag who really longs for a statist dictatorship.
For those of you who are fans of the band Rush or early 80’s rock, you will get my reference to a future in which cars are banned. Well, with the advent of driverless cars, it is not so hard to see a dystopian future where driving, though not cars themselves are banned once overzealous government bureaucrats decide that humans are not fit to drive. This thoughtful piece questions our over-reliance on technology and our over-willingness to surrender our basic freedoms.
