This is a real dialogue I had with a leftist this week. The discussion involved the validity of pro-Hamas/anti-Israel protests on campus.

Leftist: “I know some Jews who support the Palestinians.”

Me: “That’s a logical fallacy.”

Leftist: “Don’t ‘mansplain’ to me! (Another logical fallacy, attacking the opponent personally) I am a lawyer and studied LOGIC at ______ (elite university)! I know what I am talking about.”

Me: “What do you mean by ‘mansplain’? I would use the same language with a man, and have. Go ahead, attack me personally. Your original statement is an appeal to authority logical fallacy. The fact that a few Jews support the Palestinians and oppose Israel has no bearing on the facts of the matter. This dialogue is dripping with irony!”

This leftist shrew of a person represents the worst of American Marxists: white, supposedly educated, but ignorant, unintelligent and totally lacking wisdom. This type is very quick to trot out their academic qualifications (though hers are inferior to mine, I did not retort), and believes that they are morally and intellectually superior to all whom they encounter. They aren’t. I doubt she even knows what a logical fallacy is. Debating an “educated” leftist is like trying to argue with a petulant four-year old.
