Starting in the 1960’s, leftists began infiltrating the Catholic Church in large numbers. The “third rail” for the church right now is this: included in this group were a large number of gay men who were predators (that is not to say one leads to the other, just that the church seems to have a large percentage) and those who are at least sympathetic to “alternate lifestyles” and act as enablers. Over time, a small number of these men gained immense power and have given us the church’s first openly leftist Pope.
Recent scandals are destroying the church, but the Pope and his inner circle seem determined to shoot the messenger, damn the credible accusers, and act like there is nothing wrong. They have bigger issues, like destroying the US’s sovereignty and “climate change”. The Pope must go, but unfortunately the only mechanism is resignation. The Church relies on a “benevolent dictator” model, but in this case does not have one. Regardless, the Catholic Church is facing an existential crisis. It is particularly revealing that the Pope is more popular outside of the church than inside. Of course he is: leftists are either atheists or are largely non-religious. They love his leftist agenda or even worse, may see him as a mechanism to destroy the faith.
